From Madrid to Zagreb and Berlin

HMPA’s consistent presence at ICMP Music Minds Europe connects the Greek music publishing market with international developments and brings knowledge, best practices and new opportunities for cooperation back to Greece.

From Madrid to Zagreb and Berlin

Over the past three years, HMPA has maintained an active presence at ICMP Music Minds Europe, the European meetings series organised by the International Confederation of Music Publishers. From Madrid in 2024 and Zagreb in 2025 to Berlin in 2026, representatives of national associations and music publishing companies from Europe and other international markets met with collective management organisations, technology companies and institutional stakeholders.

Zagreb also marked an important moment for the Association itself. During the meetings, HMPA unveiled its new visual identity and logo, signalling a new period of greater outreach and a more active presence in Greece and across the international music publishing community.

The discussions addressed issues directly affecting the future of music publishing: the protection of musical works in the age of generative AI, transparency and licensing, metadata quality, more effective rights management, cooperation with collective management organisations, measurement of the sector’s economic value and the development of international partnerships.

For HMPA, the importance of these meetings extends beyond following international developments. Exchanges with other national associations and industry professionals provide practical examples of how markets can be better organised, how publishers can be represented more effectively and how common challenges can be addressed collectively.

The knowledge and relationships developed through these meetings are brought back to Greece and help inform the Association’s priorities. These include improving documentation and data quality, increasing transparency around music usage and royalty payments, developing clear licensing practices and responding responsibly to emerging technologies.

HMPA’s participation also helps ensure that the experience and needs of the Greek market form part of the wider international conversation. Issues that may initially appear local are often shared across markets and require coordinated positions at international level.

The journey from Madrid to Zagreb and Berlin reflects a consistent commitment by HMPA: to participate actively in international developments, exchange knowledge with its counterparts and use that experience for the benefit of its members and the wider Greek music sector.

Could the next stop be Music Minds Athens?
