Music Publishing in Focus at Athens Music Week 2026

On 7 May 2026, music publishers and representatives of collective management organisations came together at the Goethe-Institut Athen during Athens Music Week for a discussion dedicated to the role of the music publisher.

The discussion was moderated by HMPA Chair and yellowgroove Founder & Director Vanias Apergis. The panel also included Irina Loukatou, General Manager of Publishing & Co-owner of Musou Music Group, an HMPA member company.

They were joined by George Myzalis, Chief Operating Officer at EDEM Rights, Stefanos Dasopoulos, Digital Distribution & Publishing Specialist at Stay Independent, and Andreas Papadopoulos, Creative & Licensing Manager at D-Version Music Publishing.

The discussion explored what a music publisher does today and why this role matters to creators. Topics included the administration and development of musical works, different sources of revenue, cooperation with collective management organisations and the development of international partnerships.

The active participation of representatives from HMPA member companies in discussions of this kind contributes to a clearer understanding of music publishing and supports open dialogue among creators, publishers, organisations and professionals across the music sector.
